Peat

Peat is the earliest stage of the coal process. Peat is a material that is made up of decomposed organic matter. It is also a compressed plant growth. Given enough time, peat will turn into coal under the right amount of pressure and temperature. Peat how the lowest percent of carbon and very little energy. It is found in shallow wetlands such as Ireland and Canada. Peat ha a slow rate of renewal and can absorbs water, so it is not technically a renewable source. for every 10 feet of peat there is 1 foot of bituminous coal. Peat does not seem like a better solution to bituminous coal. bituminous coal has more carbon but uses less energy and Peat uses less carbon but more energy.
